For the longest time, eggs have been caught in the middle of nutrition debates.
One day they’re a superfood, the next day they’re blamed for cholesterol problems.
But as someone who’s actively trying to eat healthier—and as a dad whose son loves eggs just as much as I do—I’ve taken a closer look at what eating eggs daily actually does for your body.
Short answer?
Yes, having an egg a day is healthy.
In fact, for most people, it’s very healthy.
Why Eggs Are One of the Best Everyday Foods
Eggs are simple, affordable, and incredibly nutrient-dense. One whole egg contains high-quality protein, healthy fats, and a wide range of vitamins and minerals—all in about 70–80 calories.
Here’s what you get from eating eggs regularly:
- High-quality protein – Eggs contain all 9 essential amino acids
- Brain health support – Rich in choline, important for memory and cognition
- Eye health – Lutein and zeaxanthin help protect vision
- Muscle maintenance – Ideal for active adults and growing kids
- Longer satiety – Eggs help you feel full longer, reducing snacking
For me, eggs are the perfect breakfast foundation.
They’re quick to cook, flexible, and easy to pair with vegetables or rice—very Filipino-friendly.
Eggs and Cholesterol: The Truth
This is where most people get confused.
Eggs do contain cholesterol, but modern research shows that dietary cholesterol has little effect on blood cholesterol for most healthy individuals.
Your liver already produces cholesterol.
When you eat eggs, your body often compensates by producing less of it naturally.
Unless you have a specific medical condition (like familial hypercholesterolemia), eggs are generally safe.
How Many Eggs Is Safe to Eat Per Day?
Here’s a simple guideline:
| Person Type | Safe Daily Intake |
| Healthy adults | 1–3 whole eggs |
| Active individuals | 2–4 eggs |
| Kids & teens | 1–2 eggs |
| Bodybuilders | 3–6 eggs (often mixed with egg whites) |
Personally, I’m comfortable eating 2 eggs a day, especially when paired with vegetables and not drowned in oil.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Eggs
It’s hard to talk about eggs without mentioning Arnold Schwarzenegger. During his bodybuilding days, Arnold famously consumed large amounts of eggs, often focusing on egg whites for protein while limiting fat.
Why egg whites?
- Pure protein
- No fat or cholesterol
- Easy to digest
That said, whole eggs are still valuable—especially if you’re not training like a pro bodybuilder.
The yolk contains most of the nutrients.
Why Eggs Work for My Family
Eggs are one of the few foods my son and I genuinely enjoy eating every single day.
They’re versatile—boiled, scrambled, omelet, sunny-side up—and they make it easier to stick to a healthier routine.
When you’re trying to improve your diet, consistency matters more than perfection.
Eggs help us stay consistent.
So, is having an egg a day healthy?
Absolutely.
Eggs are affordable, nutritious, filling, and family-friendly.
We always have a steady supply of eggs in the kitchen.
Eaten in moderation and prepared simply, they can be one of the healthiest items you include in you and your kid’s daily diet
So, I guess that means that if you want to start getting healthier, crack an egg in the morning and eat one. Or two. Or like the Guv’nor… a dozen. Or more.
I recently ordered a 4-egg skillet from Shopee, because it feels like one of those small, practical purchases that quietly makes daily life easier.
It’s not that expensive and I believe it will really help with breakfast preparation a lot since we do eat a lot of eggs.
I cook at 4 least eggs every single day.
Sometimes more.
