9 Months into My Weight Loss Journey and I’m Still Fat

Posted on September 17, 2026 by Chester Canonigo Leave a Comment on 9 Months into My Weight Loss Journey and I’m Still Fat

It’s been 9 months since I started this journey and I’m still only roughly 15 pounds down from my original weight of over 200 lbs. now 15 pounds may seem a lot to most people but this is a personl journey and I’m still not happy with my progress.

I look in the mirror and I still see a lot of excess weight hanging on my once more fit frame and I can’t help but feel impatient about losing it by doing more exercise and eating less.

Sadly, that’s not a good thing to do.

These things just can’t be rushed.

Here’s What I’m Doing to Address My Weight Issues

What I Am DoingWhere Things Stand
Tirzepatide (weekly injection)Switched from retatrutide; appetite suppression is consistent; nausea has largely settled
Calisthenics daily100 jumping jacks, 100 squats, pelvic floor work, glute bridges, diamond lifts, frog pumps — the routine is ok so far
WalkingAbout 2 to 2.5km daily; this is the one I am most consistent with but recent improvements in the neighborhood has significantly shortened my walks and then there’s also the haze that has forced me to wear a mask during my walks
DietReduced intake; the tirzepatide genuinely quiets the appetite — eating less is not the struggle it used to be
Weight lostApproximately 15 pounds over 9 months
Goal reached? No. Still far from it.

What I Have Learned

Nine months is long enough to separate what works from what I thought would work.

The tirzepatide is doing its job which is suppressing my appetite and the side effects have become more manageable over the past few weeks.

I’m doing more calisthenics now than lifting weights because my main goal is to lose weight before building it back up with muscle.

I feel better though.

More energetic.

My metabolism at this age is definitely slower and I have to adjust the level of effort to keep weight off. Not like when I was younger when all the things I seemed to eat just kinda burned up within an hour of consumption.

I did theSingLife marathon 5K and even though I did that mostly by walking, partly jogging, and occasionally sprinting, it still gives me a good memory to keep my motivation up.

The goal has not changed.

The plan is to stick with the routine, stay on the tirzepatide under my wife’s supervision, reduce food intake further, and trust the process.

Come to think of it, fifteen pounds is not that bad. It’s not enough but it is enough to keep going on, and I will.

… I should do some accountability vids or something and post it either on Youtube or TikTok or on Instagram like other health-related sites… hmmm… I did purchase the Modofo cam for taking videos…
